Danny Dyer is about to hit The Wall!
EastEnders star Danny Dyer says he simply “couldn’t turn down” the chance to host a massive new BBC1 game show.
Today the Beeb revealed that Danny, best known for playing Albert Square’s Mick Carter, will front The Wall, which will go out on Saturday Nights.
Talking about why he had to do The Wall, Danny said: “I’d never had a desire to host a gameshow before I saw this game. I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to help win the public some serious life-changing readies. I love it.”
Danny has some presenting experience having recently fronted an episode of Have I Got News For You? in hilarious fashion.
But The Wall promises to be on a whole new scale. Teasing The Wall, the Beeb said: “Expect colossal wins and heart-breaking losses, this new game show really can change people’s lives in an instant.”
While Danny will be on presenting duties, Angela Rippon will be heard firing the questions at the team of two contestants.
As the Beeb puts it, “pairs need the right answers, the right bounces and cast-iron trust in one another to win a life-changing cash prize”.
The Wall originally started in America on NBC in 2016 and has been sold all over the world.
Kate Phillips, Controller of Entertainment Commissioning at BBC, says: “The Wall is an exciting, challenging and tense quiz where destinies dramatically change with the drop of a single ball. Danny is an unforgettable and very unique host as he commands The Wall, roots for the contestants and hits our hearts and our funny bones.”
The Wall, fronted by EastEnders star Danny, will be shown on Saturday nights on BBC1 later this year.
