EastEnders’ Taylor family to get a new addition – but who is it?

There's drama heading for the Taylor family when another family member arrives in Albert Square...

EastEnders will welcome a new addition to the Taylor family in 2019, when Karen’s much talked-about daughter Chantelle finally pitches up, eighteen months after the rest of her clan arrived in the Square.

The character, who is yet to be cast, is the eldest of the Taylor siblings, and the result of Karen’s relationship with Mitch Baker – making her the full sister of Keegan and half-sister of Keanu, Bernadette, and twins Chatham and Riley.

The Taylors first arrived 18 months ago…

Says an EastEnders spokesperson: “When Chantelle arrives in Walford, she quickly makes an impact with her kind and bubbly nature. Although, don’t be fooled by this easy-going, girl next door. She’s very much her mother’s daughter, and wouldn’t think twice about sticking up for herself.

“Karen and Mitch are delighted to see Chantelle in Walford, but it suddenly becomes clear there’s some friction between mum and daughter. With another Taylor descending on Walford, things are about to get a lot more rowdy.”

Little is known about Chantelle, but Danny Walters, who plays Keanu, gave an insight into the character back in 2017.

EastEnders spoilers: Will Mitch let slip a dark family secret that could destroy the Taylors?

Chantelle is Karen and Mitch’s daughter

Speaking to whatsontv.co.uk at the time of the Taylors’ debut on the square, he told us: ”She’s got a boyfriend, two kids and she has moved out.

“She probably doesn’t have any time for us anymore. She’s probably got her own life and that upsets us a little bit, because we are so close and a strong family.

“So if she has her own thing and doesn’t have time for us, that probably is hard to come to terms with.”

Says the soap’s Senior Executive producer, Kate Oates: “The Taylor family are set to be complete when Chantelle arrives in Walford and Chantelle certainly has that feisty Taylor streak. Things are set to get a whole lot louder in Walford in 2019.”

EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
