Hot on the heels of the news of Claire King's long-awaited return to Emmerdale next month, the actress is also one bad mama in a new gangster film.

It sounds like original bad girl Kim Tate will be up to her old tricks, when the scheming character returns to ITV’s Emmerdale for the first time in almost 20 years next month.

But while she’s been away from the rural village, Claire has kept the designer heels to hand and her nails sharpened for a killer role in a forthcoming new British gangster film, King Of Crime.

In the film, Claire plays Yvonne King, wife of gangster Marcus King, played by The Bill star Mark Wingett.

“Yvonne is not your typical wife and mother,” Claire says in an interview with Blazing Minds. “She makes Kim Tate look like a pussycat! But I love playing strong characters. I find them more fun to play as I’m quite tall and strong and I don’t often play victims.”

The film’s cast also includes another ex-The Bill star, Christopher Ellinson, ex-EastEnders star Rachel Bright (who played Poppy Meadow) and former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Nicholas “Xander” Brendon in a cameo role.

“I’ve played a couple of really nasty characters before,” adds Claire, who had long-running roles in ITV’s Bad Girls and Coronation Street after originally leaving Emmerdale. “So I drew on those to get the character of Yvonne and researched into psychopathic behaviour of this kind, as she really believes she’s doing little wrong!”

King Of Crime will be released at a later date.
