James has been praised for his sassy comeback

Emmerdale actor James Moore has replied to negative comments about his hair by saying that “acting isn’t a beauty contest”.

The soap newcomer, who plays Charity Dingle’s long lost son Ryan Stocks, took to Twitter to hit back at some nasty comments he’d got about how he looks.

“To everyone who has commented about my hair, or my style – I think someone said I looked homeless – maybe you should be focusing more on the plot and less on superficialities. Acting isn’t a beauty contest.”

James received a host of warm replies to his message, with the mood summed up by one viewer who wrote: “Seriously?! First your hair is amazing anyway (talk about goals), and secondly it’s completely irrelevant to the incredible work you’re doing on screen. If people have an issue with that it’s their problem.”

In a shock twist, Charity (Emma Atkins) learned that her son who she thought had died at birth 27 years ago – was in fact alive and has ataxic cerebral palsy

On joining Emmerdale last month, James said: “I’m so excited to have joined the Emmerdale cast. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly and I’m having a great time playing Ryan. I leapt a mile when I got the call and I was over the moon to hear that I had got the part.”

Emmerdale continues on ITV.
