Time to set your pre-record button...
Some fabulous news to start off your weekend – it has been confirmed that two more episodes of Peter Kay’s hit comedy Car Share will be airing in May.
So when it is back and at what time?
Well, the hilarious BBC show will be returning to screens on 7th and 28th May, with the first of the episodes set to be an “improvised” special – meaning the cast won’t be following a script. The second episode will be the show’s much-anticipated series finale.
The statement on Peter Kay’s website read, “A brand new Car Share: Unscripted special will be on BBC1 at 10pm on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May. The episode is completely improvised.
“Then a full second series repeat of Car Share on Monday nights will conclude with a brand new series finale to be screened on the second Bank Holiday, 28th May.”
The highly-anticipated news comes some months after popular funnyman Peter Kay abruptly cancelled his live tour. In a statement, he shared that the cancellation was “due to unforeseen family circumstances”. The reason behind the news has not yet been revealed.
Fans of Car Share were left heartbroken back in May 2017, when what was thought to be the final episode of the sitcom aired. Viewers were left on tenterhooks, as the romantic future of car-share commuters John and Kayleigh hung in the balance. Since then, many have wondered if a conclusion to the series would ever be aired. So it looks as though we’re all in luck – as we’ll get to see if the pair do end up together.
Some fans of the show were lucky enough to see an exclusive, charity screening of the final two episodes earlier this month at the Blackpool Opera House.
Peter Kay himself surprised fans by putting in a brief appearance at the event, which was raising money for the Lily Foundation.
He told the audience, “Thank you very much for supporting the Lily Foundation raising money for mitochondrial disease. Very kind of you. I appreciate it.
“Enjoy the last ever episode of Car Share. Don’t tell anyone the end. Or tell anyone about any hedgehogs.”
So what happens to the hedgehogs? We’ll have to wait and see…
