Former Emmerdale actress, Sian Reese Williams, joins a star-studded cast including Tara Fitzgerald, Brendan Coyle and Joanna Scanlon
Former Emmerdale star, Sian Reese Williams is to star in new psychological thriller, Requiem, which has begun filming in Newport, Wales.
Welsh-born Sian, who shot to fame as ill-fated Gennie Walker in the Yorkshire soap, will join a star-studded cast which includes Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones, Waking the Dead), Downton Abbey’s Brendan Coyle, Clare Rushbook (Home Fires, Whitechapel ), Richard Harrington (Poldark, Hinterland) and Joanna Scanlon (No Offence, Bridget Jones’ Baby).
Described as part psychological thriller and part supernatural, Requiem begins in 1994 when a toddler disappears from a small Welsh town, never to be seen again.
Twenty-three years later, Matilda, a talented young cellist, played by Lydia Wilson (Star Trek Beyond), has her life turned upside down by her mother’s inexplicable suicide.

In the wake of the tragedy, Matilda begins to question everything she thought she knew about herself and embarks on a quest that leads her to the same Welsh town that the child vanished from. Once there, she discovers a place that is haunted by its own past, where the secrets she uncovers threaten to unravel her very identity.
Matilda’s quest to discover the truth sees her team up with her loyal best friend Hal (Joel Fry) and Nick (James Freecheville), another stranger in the town who may not be all that he seems.
The series will be shown on BBC1 and Netflix later this year.
