Former GMTV presenter Emma Crosby has been confirmed as Natasha Kaplinsky’s replacement as the face of Channel 5 news.
Emma, 33, was dropped from the ITV morning show last summer ahead of its Daybreak rebrand.
She will join the 5 News team from February 14, sharing the station’s presenting duties with Matt Barbet, an old university pal.
Natasha had been the high-profile face of the channel’s news bulletins with a reported million-pound deal. But she announced she would leave the station after returning from maternity leave last year.
The station is being overhauled under new owner Richard Desmond.
Emma will anchor the daily 7pm bulletin while Matt, who has been at Channel 5 since 2007, will front the 5pm edition.
She said: “I am hugely excited about joining the team. From the outset, Channel 5 News have always enjoyed the reputation of offering viewers something a little bit different and I am over the moon to be a part of that.
“Matt and I studied at university together so I’m looking forward to the reunion too.”
Matt said: “I’ve known Emma for years, and it’s excellent news that she is joining Channel 5 News at such an exciting time.”
David Kermode, editor of Channel 5 News, said: “I’m thrilled we have signed two of the brightest talents in the business to front our news programmes.”
Channel 5 News will continue to be produced by Sky News.
