Ashley Jensen has confessed she is relieved to be out of the competitive US TV industry.
The Scottish actress worked on American comedy Ugly Betty for four years until 2010, but told the TV Times she’s glad to be back in Britain.
Ashley revealed: “People in America were always like, ‘What’s your game play?’ And I’d be like, ‘I don’t even know what I’m having for tea!’
“In America you commit nine months of the year to being in something that could run for seven years. To be honest, though, if a series you were in ever lasted that long, you would be quite rich!”
Ashley will next appear in BBC legal drama The Escape Artist with David Tennant, playing the wife of a top junior defence barrister.
She said: “I think the role of Kate is so the audience can see what kind of man Will is outside the court.
“It also makes a difference that he has a family, because when you have a child you think about things a bit differently.”
