Faye Tozer has revealed the very special good luck charm her nine-year-old son Benjamin has given her for Strictly Come Dancing.
The Steps star says she tries to keep a “cool head” before she goes on stage and says the gift from her little boy helps.
“My Benjamin gave me a little metal arrow as a good luck charm to keep me pointing in the right direction,” says Faye, who’s married to software engineer Michael Smith.
The 42-year-old singer and her pro partner Giovanni Pernice will dance the jive to Reet Petite by Jackie Wilson this Saturday as they aim to make it through this weekend and onto Blackpool.
Speaking to TV Times, Faye said: “I really hope to get to Blackpool. Dancing at the Tower Ballroom has such prestige. It would be a privilege.”
Faye praised her partner Giovanni, revealing he was a great teacher. “He’s so focussed. We work really hard in the studio and I feel really supported! He’s helped me massively with my confidence. He’s also a real joker and it’s great that we can have a laugh, too!”
Looking back over the competition so far, Faye says her favourite dance was the one for Halloween Week.
“We scored 39 and it was a Strictly first having a ‘couple’s choice theatre/jazz as a category, so I’m really proud.”
And Faye is loving her Strictly journey. “It has been everything I imagined and more. It’s hard work but so fabulous! It’s a challenge physically and mentally but it’s rolled in glitter and feathers!”
As to her chances of winning, she says: “I’ve been really happy with the scores from the judges, but to me it’s the audience votes that determine whether you go through to the next week or not.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC1 this Saturday.
