TV presenter Fearne Cotton has quit The X Factor – after signing a deal to front a new talent show in the US, according to reports.

Fearne hosted just one series of spin-off The Xtra Factor on ITV2 after taking over from Ben Shephard last year.

Pals have revealed that 25-year-old Fearne now wants to carve out a career across the pond – but X Factor insiders have suggested that she was unlikely to have been offered a new contract this year anyway, says The Sun.

One said: “Fearne had fun working on X Factor but she decided to quit while she was ahead.

“There was no guarantee she would have been doing a second series. It made sense to make a clean break and concentrate on America.

“There’s no bad blood between her and The X Factor lot but they didn’t exactly get on like a house on fire.”

Fearne has already landed her first job with NBC – one of the top four channels in the US.

She will co-host Last Comic Standing – a talent trawl for some of America’s funniest comedians.

Fearne has already started filming the audition shows in Los Angeles.

Like The X Factor, hopefuls on Last Comic Standing are voted off the show by the public.

The winner gets $250,000 and a contract to make shows with NBC.

Fearne is also hosting a new celebrity karaoke show called Guilty Pleasures for ITV1 as well as presenting the Brits.
