A former star of Emmerdale will show off her singing skills when she takes to the stage in the latest instalment of The Voice UK.

Kelsey-Beth Crossley – who played Scarlett Nicholls in the soap for five years, leaving in 2012 – features in the second round of the blind auditions which is due to be screened on Saturday night.

And the 21-year-old admits on the programme that new coach Kylie Minogue has been an inspiration to her.

“I’m a massive Kylie fan,” she said.

“Me and Kylie have in common that we were both from a soap. She’s had a massive career in the music industry since. She’ll know what she’s talking about.”

Kelsey-Beth added that she was ‘serious’ about making the move into music, saying: “I love to sing – it was the first thing I got into.

“Then when I got into Emmerdale I had to put it on the back burner.”

Viewers will see how the actress fares in front of the coaches when the second round of The Voice UK is screened on BBC One at 7pm.
