Strictly Come Dancing bosses are hoping Mark Wright will bring a bit of Essex-appeal to the dance floor after he signed up for the hit ballroom dancing contest.

The TV star, who shot to fame on reality show The Only Way Is Essex, is the sixth celebrity confirmed for this year’s line-up.

Mark, who hosts a radio show on Heart, broke the news on-air, adding: “Doing Strictly is going to be so completely different from anything I’ve done before. I’m the sort of guy who loves to bust out some moves at a party but I’m certainly not a natural dancer.

“Any of my friends would tell you that – they call me ‘Markey no-moves’! I’m genuinely petrified about dancing on national telly but Strictly is such an amazing show to be a part of and I can’t wait to get stuck in and give it my all.

“I do like to try hard and I do like to crack new challenges.”

One vote Mark’s guaranteed, no matter how bad he may be, is from his fiancée, former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan.

Mark will join boyband Blue’s Simon Webbe, former Scottish international rugby player Thom Evans, TV presenter Alison Hammond, tennis player Andy Murray’s mum, Judy Murray, Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford and nine other celebrity dancers in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, which returns to BBC1 One in the autumn.
