Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is recovering in a Hawaii hospital after a mild heart attack at the weekend, his spokesman said.

The actor was ‘resting comfortably’ in an undisclosed hospital after being stricken on Saturday, Stan Rosenfield said.

The 53-year-old – who found fame playing psychiatrist Frasier Crane in the hit US sitcom – would be released early this week, he added.

Rosenfield said that the actor, who also starred in the TV series Cheers and the recently cancelled Fox sitcom Back To You, was paddle-boarding with his wife, Camille, when he experienced symptoms.

The couple live in Kona, an area on Hawaii’s Big Island.

The actor was immediately taken to hospital where it was determined that he had suffered a ‘mild heart attack’, Rosenfield said.

The spokesman added that he was unaware of any history of heart trouble for the Emmy-winning star.
