Double Friday misery for EastEnders fans – here’s why!

Blame sport!

EastEnders fans face TWO Fridays without their favourite soap!

The BBC1 favourite won’t be on tonight because the broadcaster is showing the FA Cup clash between Arsenal and Manchester United between 7.30pm and 10pm – just when it’s normally on.

And to heap the Friday pain on EastEnders fans next Friday the soap isn’t on again – and again the reason is sport! This time in the shape of the ruby union match between France and Wales.

But on a more positive note the soap is still on four times next week. Monday’s episode will go out at 8pm which sees Keanu kiss Louise… just as Sharon walks in! Tuesday’s episode – which includes Mel being horrified when Nicola and Maddie turn up insisting they want to see Ray! – will go out at 7.30pm.

Then Thursday has a double bill of EastEnders. The first Thursday night episode – on at 7.30pm – sees Sharon making it clear to Keanu that it’s over between them, but Keanu refuses to believe it. The second Thursday episode – on at 8.30pm – sees Ian storming off when Mel puts her foot in it, while Keanu heads off to see Sharon…

Meanwhile, today the soap revealed that Jean Slater will soon be diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Talking about the major plotline, show boss Kate Oates said: “Jean’s diagnosis will impact every aspect of her life, including her family, her friendship groups and her mental health, and I know an actor of Gillian’s calibre will approach the story with great truth and depth.

“The Slaters are an amazing ensemble family, full of complex and well-drawn characters, and this story is a completely fresh subject for them to tackle. I know they’ll do it justice and in turn raise awareness of such an important issue that affects so many people.”

EastEnders is back on Monday.
