Gaby Roslin was a familiar face on early-morning TV back in the 1990s when she co-presented The Big Breakfast on Channel 4. Now, 19 years after leaving the show, she’s set to make a return to breakfast TV…

The presenter and radio DJ will be hosting Lorraine on ITV, filling in for Lorraine Kelly over the February half-term.

Gaby co-hosted the madcap Channel 4 breakfast show with Chris Evans, and later Paul Ross and Mark Little, from its launch in 1992 until she gave up the early starts in 1996.

The show, which also featured Paula Yates interviewing stars on a big bed and Keith Chegwin knocking on viewers’ doors, was later presented by Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen. But when they left the show after a successful run, it sounded the death knell for the programme. The last show aired in March 2002.

“Lorraine is without doubt the kindest, sweetest woman on telly with a wicked sense of humour,” says Gaby, who now has her own radio show on BBC London 94.6. “They are very tough shoes to fill and I’m hugely touched that she’s asked me to look after her show whilst she’s away. I can’t wait.”

Gaby recently presented Top Dog and Food Inspectors for the BBC and took part in ITV’s Get Your Act Together.

She will host the show, which follows Good Morning Britain at 8.30am, next week with guests including former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, X Factor winner Sam Bailey and actor and singer Claire Sweeney.
