There's still ages to wait until the final season of Game Of Thrones. But telly bosses are already planning a spin-off series.

Are you a Game Of Thrones fan, having withdrawal symptoms, as the long wait for next year’s 8th and final season continues?

While secrecy surrounds those final six episodes, HBO have already announced they are developing a prequel series, which will be set before the events of Game Of Thrones and likely begin once the original series has ended. Filming on the pilot episode of the planned series will begin next year.

HBO say the spin-off “chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

The die-hard Game Of Thrones fan community are busy trying to get the scoop on the spin-off, which has been co-written by Jane Goldman (real-life wife of presenter Jonathan Ross) and George R R Martin, author of the original book series.

“I’ve had the pleasure of going to spend some time with George and working on things and talking about ideas and that was an honour and a pleasure,” Jane revealed in an interview with IGN. “He’s a great guy and we’ve had enormous fun talking about ideas and characters and all sorts of interesting things.”

HBO have confirmed the final season of Game Of Thrones will be shown in the first half of 2019
