Following weeks of speculation, Gary Barlow has reportedly been hired to replace Simon Cowell on the next series of The X Factor.
According to The Sun, the Take That singer was revealed as a judge on Friday, along with Louis Walsh, who is also confirmed to be returning next series.
If the reports prove to be accurate then Gary will stand in for Simon Cowell, who is going to be a judge on the US version of the show.
“Louis has been told he’s back – and Gary is a definite,” an insider told the paper.
“Gary knows the business inside and out. If anyone could replace Simon it’s him.”
Meanwhile the latest person rumoured to be replacing Cheryl Cole – who was also confirmed as a judge on the US version of the show earlier this week – is Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland.
The American singer joins a list of female stars who have been tipped for the job, including Lily Allen, Alesha Dixon, N-Dubz singer Tulisa and The Saturdays’ Frankie Sandford.
It is thought Simon Cowell will still have some involvement with the series, possibly returning to the panel for the live finals later on in the year.
