As the cast of Glee finished filming the last-ever series on Saturday, Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry in the series, posted a series of snapshots and emotional comments to her four million followers on Twitter.

Before filming her last scenes she said: “I can’t believe tomorrow is our last day. It’s going to be emotional.”

She then thanked her fans for their support, and said that she and the rest of the cast were lucky to have had such an “amazing crew” working on the show. She then added: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will miss Rachel very much.”

Lea wasn’t alone in sharing her thought about the end of filming.

Darren Chriss, who plays Blaine, said: “Today is my last day of working on Glee. It has been the privilege of a lifetime. “

He then paid tribute to the rest of the cast and crew: “Thank you for all your enthusiasm, hard work and kindness. I’m so fortunate to have been part of this family.’

The musical comedy series is expected to end with a wedding, a reunion and a very special mention to original cast member Cory Monteith, who died in 2013 at the age of 31.

The actor, who played Finn Hudson, was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room after taking  an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

Earlier in the week, Kevin McHale, who plays Artie Abrams in the show, said: “I think he is always remembered and especially at a time like this at the very end, there will definitely be some sort of mention of him. He’ll be involved in some way.”

Before filming wrapped on the series, Kevin said that he was planning to take a special souvenir from the set – the wheelchair his disabled character uses! And he added that he had asked his co-star Jenna Ushkowitz, who plays Tina Cohen-Chang, to help him sneak the prop off the set.

“I’m absolutely going to steal the wheelchair,” he said. “I already asked Jenna if I could fit it into her car. She has a bigger car than I do.”
