The actor enjoyed a long and successful career
Glynn Edwards, best known for playing Dave the barman in Minder, has died aged 87.
The popular actor, who The Daily Telegraph reports died on the 23rd May, enjoyed a long acting career, but to Minder fans, he will always be loveable Dave, the barman at Arthur Daley’s favourite pub, the Winchester club.
Talking about his days working alongside George Cole and Dennis Waterman, Glynn once told The Scotsman that he could have nothing but “fond” recollections of the legendary ITV show, in which he appeared in 100 episodes over 15 years.
However, Glynn nearly turned down the part because he only had four lines in the first episode of Minder and wondered whether it was worth it.
Glynn, who retired from acting after Minder ended in 1994, was born in Malaya in 1931.
After leaving school aged 15, he went into acting in his 20s, enjoying roles in the TV series Steptoe and Son, The Avengers and Z Cars early in his career. He also later worked alongside comedy legends David Jason, in Lucky Feller, and Michael Crawford, in Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em.
While on film he appeared with Michael Cane in the films Zulu (1964) and Get Carter (1971).
