Gok Wan has signed a deal to write a ‘painful’, but ‘inspirational’ autobiography.

The Channel 4 presenter, who has hosted shows such as How To Look Good Naked and Gok’s Fashion Fix, will publish the book in September after striking a deal with publisher Ebury Press.

Gok – who was bullied as a teenager for his homosexuality and for being overweight – said: “There’s a lot to tell, some of it still painful, but I think it will be all worth it and prove a revealing, entertaining and above all inspirational read.”

Gok, a stylist to the stars before finding TV fame, performed his own makeover when he was 20 by losing 10 stone in only nine months.

Charlotte Cole, senior commissioning editor at Ebury, said: “Gok is loved by women for making us feel fantastic about ourselves, and where he got that gift from is an inspirational story in itself.

“Told with his trademark warmth and wit, his story will be the must read for women this Christmas.”
