Who looked hot and who looked bothered... Check out the best and the worst of the fashion at the 74th Golden Globes
It feels wrong to pick a selection of people whose red carpet looks perhaps didn’t work as well for them as they had initially hoped for…
In fact, it’s impossible to say that any one person looked really bad at the 74th annual Golden Globe awards on Sunday night. It’s more that, for a handful of A-listers, they could have chosen something that suited them a little better.
Or, you know, had fewer ostentatious pink ruffles and sequins. There were a LOT of pink ruffles, for some reason. Actually, ruffles of all kinds were not well done this year.
Simplicity is – so often – the key to real red carpet elegance, something a few of the stars forgot as they headed down to the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles for the biggest night of the year so far in the entertainment world.
Here’s our pick of the worst dressed at the Golden Globes. We are sorry.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Mimi Valdes and Pharrell Williams
But let’s not focus solely on the fashion misses. There were loads of incredibly stylish looks at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
There were a couple of themes going on this year, including strong metallics, sunshine yellow and plenty of figure-hugging dresses.
Among our favourites were the likes of Loving actress Ruth Negga, who looked like an intergalactic superhero in a shimmering Louis Vuitton dress, and Gone Girl star Emily Ratajkowski, who showed that you can do slinky yellow fabric with cut-outs and still look classy.
Extra kudos points to the beautiful Lily Collins, who proved that – sometimes – over-the-top frothy, lacy pink dresses CAN work. If they’re by Zuhair Murad and are teamed with a fierce dark red lip.
Here’s our round-up of this year’s best dressed, along with our new favourite star, Ruth.
Lovely work ladies.
