The boys will be back...
Robson Green and Tom Brittney will reunite for a fifth series of Grantchester, ITV has announced.
Fans were gutted when James Norton left his role as Sidney Chambers during the last series, but soon took to Tom Brittney as Sidney’s replacement, Will Davenport.
New parish priest Will and DI Geordie Keating (Robson) became an awesome crime fighting team and the partnership will face fresh challenges in series five.
Grantchester series five will open in 1957, the year Prime Minister Harold Macmillan famously told the British people that they’d “never had it so good”.
However, Geordie finds that there’s still plenty of trouble and crimes to tackle in Grantchester.
Kudos Executive Producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd said: “We are very excited that Grantchester is returning for a fifth series. The audience has taken the pairing of Robson Green and Tom Brittney to their hearts and we are delighted to be able to continue the story of Geordie and Will with Masterpiece and ITV.”

Describing Will to us previously, Tom said: “Will’s young, ambitious and optimistic, and he’s using his position in the Church to fight for equal rights and stand up for the common man. He’s lovely and charming but underneath it there’s quite a dark side that will come out.”
Filming will begin soon in Cambridgeshire and ITV has said that further casting news will be “announced in due course”.
It’s not yet been confirmed when the new series will be screened.
