Great British Bake Off’s Mel and Sue land new ITV daytime chat show

Fresh from their success as hosts of the Great British Bake Off, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have landed a new daytime chat show, their first together for 16 years.

Screening live daily, the show will see Mel and Sue put the kettle on for the nation’s best-loved celebrities and some of Britain’s quirkiest real-life characters.

Mel and Sue first came to prominence on lunchtime comedy chat show Light Lunch, broadcast on Channel 4 between March 1997 and February 1998.

Mel said: “I’ve been asked to host a show with somebody called PORKIN? PARKIN..? PORTLY..? I’ve never heard of her  – but I’ll be very happy to meet her soon.”

Sue added: “I very much look forward to working with Mel again, although, for legal reasons, we will now be at least one metre apart at all times.”

Helen Warner, ITV’s Director of Daytime, said: “I’ve been a big Mel and Sue fan for years and I’m thrilled their new show will be part of the ITV Daytime schedule. Both are brilliant broadcasters and comedians and bring a unique warmth and charisma as presenters. “
