The Eurovision hopefuls have only just been announced, but already Justin Hawkins has been tipped as the favourite to represent the UK this year.
The former Darkness frontman’s odds have been cut from 5/1 to 2/1 to win the public vote in Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up.
Bookies Ladbrokes said they were inundated with calls from punters eager to back the lycra-loving Justin.
Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: “The way things are shaping up it’ll be a dark day if Hawkins wins the nomination.”
Meanwhile, ex-Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon was second favourite to win the BBC contest on 3/1, with former East 17 star Brian Harvey on 4/1 jointly with Big Brovaz. Newcomer Cyndi and pop group Scooch are the outsiders with odds of 8/1 and 10/1. And following our lack of success at Eurovision in recent years, bookies have tipped the UK at only 16/1 to win the contest.
Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up screens on BBC1 on Saturday, March 17.
