Hollyoaks and Emmerdale stars team up for new charitable film project

Hollyoaks and Emmerdale stars have teamed up for a new film.

Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, who has played Warren Fox in the Channel 4 soap since 2006, took to his social media to reveal the special news.

Sharing the important news with his nearly 184,000 Twitter followers, the actor revealed that he would be taking part in a new film project with former Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward, who played Katie Sudgen in the ITV soap from 2001 until 2015.

He revealed that the pair would be working on an independent film together called Lead Belly, a drama that will follow a military veteran who ends up becoming homeless.

‘I really need your help!’ wrote the Hollyoaks star in a tweet alongside a video interview of the pair speaking about the project.

‘We are making a film to raise awareness for some amazing charities,’ he continued.

‘Support our ex veterans who are suffering with mental health issues and some who are living on the streets. Please help by sharing and donating If you can’.

The soap star, who be producing the film and acting in it, then linked to a page raising money for the cause, which explains a bit more about the project.

‘‘Lead Belly’ (originally titled ‘No Man’s Land’) written by Ian Armer and Amanda Webster is a short drama focusing on themes surrounding homelessness and our armed forces,’ reads the description.

‘It’s a character driven story that’s inspired by actual events. The film has hard hitting themes to be drawn upon including loss, PTSD and mental health issues.

‘Our film tackles these issues in such a way where we really see the impact of what some of our military veterans go through once they are back in society after serving Queen and country.

‘We are working alongside three very important charities.’
