A ‘petrified’ Holly Valance says she and Jason Donovan are planning a soap dance-off on Strictly Come Dancing.
The ex-Neighbours stars are looking forward to seeing who can strut their stuff on the dancefloor on the BBC One show.
“I hope so. That’s a good plan,” Holly – who played Flick Scully on the Aussie soap – said on the red carpet, adding that she’s nervous but excited.
“I’m petrified, but in a good way. I just really want to get started now.”
But Holly, who left Neighbours in 2002 to pursue a music career, reckons her former co-star may be a dark horse. “Jason has got some pretty slick moves. We were opposite each other a bit in training and I need to watch myself,” she added.
Jason, who previously played Scott Robinson until 1989, is keen to start picking up some new moves. “I am feeling cautiously optimistic. I am willing to learn. Life is about the journey, not the destination,” he said.
And despite his theatre background, he admitted dancing is out of his comfort zone.
“I think the funny thing about me is that because I’m in theatre that this is my thing. But dancing has alluded me so this is going to be an interesting journey.”
The two soap stars join former EastEnder Anita Dobson as well as a host of celebrities from McFly drummer Harry Judd and Waterloo Road actress Chelsee Healey to comedian Rory Bremner and boxer Audley Harrison.
The launch show is to be screened on BBC One on Saturday evening.
