The finalists in this year’s X Factor could have the chance to sing with dead pop legends in hologram form, according to The Sun.

The paper reports that producers are considering the plan – which could see the hopefuls take to the stage with the likes of Elvis, Amy Winehouse or Michael Jackson – for the final of the show.

And the stunt could even see them duet with living stars who could take to the stage in the superimposed form.

“The X Factor has to get better so they are looking at holograms as a way of creating a splash,” a source told the paper.

“Imagine Elvis or Amy Winehouse at the grand final. It would be incredible TV and an amazing experience for contestants.”

Show bosses are reportedly keen on the idea after seeing the technology used by Celine Dion, who featured a hologram of Stevie Wonder at one of her live shows and also duetted with a holographic Elvis on American Idol.

“The technology’s there and has been used on several big stages. The X Factor final is perfect for something like this,” the insider added.

“It nearly happened last year after show boss Richard Holloway saw the Stevie Wonder hologram at Celine Dion.”

The new series of the show is set to begin later this month.
