Kerry Katona has received the support of supermarket chain Iceland after her slurred appearance on GMTV’s This Morning on Wednesday.
The company has issued a statement saying that the winner of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here would remain under contract, according to Radio 1’s Newsbeat.
Kerry, who stars in Iceland’s TV adverts and in stores around the country, repeatedly slurred her words during an interview with hosts Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton.
The 28-year-old said it was due to her taking prescribed medication for bipolar disorder too late the night before.
The firm said Katona was ‘dependent on medication for her bipolar disorder and if this medication isn’t taken at the correct time it will result in her appearing disorientated and slurring her words’.
The company said it had ‘first-hand experience’ of the reality TV star slurring her words but said she had always been able to resume her work ‘after a short period’.
This Morning’s producers have denied the interview was an ‘ambush’ and explained that they did not have a chance to talk to Kerry before she went live on air because she turned up too late.
Phillip Schofield insisted: “The last thing I want to do is to witness a car crash in front of my eyes.”
