The writers of E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners have confirmed they’re scripting a film version of the series.

Damon Beesley and Iain Morris said
Film4 have commissioned a script for a movie of the hit show, which centres on four bumbling, potty-mouthed schoolboys, and said they’re considering taking the pals on a lads’ holiday for the feature-length piece.

Iain said: “We always try to make the show as real as we can, and we think boys of that age tend to go on holiday abroad – we think a film could do justice to that.”

He added: “I understand that most films never get made, but that’s what we’re doing.”

They may face some stiff competition from two of the show’s stars, however.

The writing duo said that Simon Bird, who plays Will Mackenzie, and Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper) have written a ‘brilliant’ script, which is ‘annoyingly funnier’ than their own work.
