Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul has been offered a job on the Australian version of the show, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that Abdul – who has been linked to a string of shows since she quit American Idol earlier this month – is now being tipped to join the Australian Idol panel.

She would be a replacement for Kyle Sandilands, an Australian DJ who was sacked from the panel recently amid controversy over remarks he made to a young rape victim on his radio show.

Abdul, 47, is said to have quit American Idol following a row over pay.

She has since been tipped to appear in Ugly Betty, as well as become a judge on reality shows Dancing With The Stars – the US equivalent of Strictly Come Dancing – and So You Think You Can Dance.

“I’ve got a busy week filled with network meetings,” she wrote on her Twitter page this week. “I’m looking forward to all the new projects up ahead.”

Victoria Beckham has been drafted in as a temporary replacement for Abdul at the American Idol auditions – but has insisted that she will not be joining permanently.
