Is Robbie Williams set for rival talent show role?

Robbie Williams is being lined up as a judge for a new BBC1 talent show that could rival The X Factor, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that the BBC want the Take That singer to join the panel of The Voice – based on the US hit show – which will be hitting UK screens next year.

However the move could potentially pitch him against bandmate Gary Barlow – who is being tipped to take Simon Cowell’s place on the panel of The X Factor.

“Robbie would be great, particularly with his rivalry with Gary,” a BBC insider said.

Show bosses are also reported to be after chart-topper Adele to be a judge on the show – which sees rival teams of singers compete against each other.

The judging panel on the US version of the show includes Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine.

The Voice – which has been a huge hit on US TV – is notable for using ‘blind auditions’, in which the panellists turn their backs on the singers in order to judge them solely by their singing.
