The paper reports that show producers are hoping the 18-stone psychic could follow in the footsteps of Anne Widdecombe in 2010 and become a viewers’ favourite.
“Russell is in advanced talks to appear,” a source told the paper. “We can’t wait to get him on the dancefloor in his sequins.
“He’s a really loud, flamboyant character and is going to be great TV. He will lose weight in training before the show but he’s still going to be a big bloke and not the most nimble performer.”
The insider added that it would probably be “hilarious” but warned, “whoever has to partner him might be in for a rough ride.”
Fern Britton, Chris Tarrant, footballer Robbie Savage and The One Show’s Alex Jones are among the celebs who have been tipped to take part in the next series, which is due to begin in the autumn.
Last year’s series was won by former EastEnder Kara Tointon, with Anne Widdecombe reaching the quarter finals despite her constant criticism from the judges.
