ITV has axed game show Amazing Greys after just one series, according to reports.

The Saturday night contest, co-hosted by Paddy McGuinness and 69-year-old Angela Rippon, which pitched youngsters against expert golden oldies in a series of technical challenges, has been given the chop, according to The Sun.

The game show featured veterans including chef Prue Leith, World Cup-winning footballer Geoff Hurst and Mastermind champion Elizabeth Horrocks.

Amazing Greys show launched in April in the slot after Britain’s Got Talent, and at first saw 5.2 million viewers tune in. But ratings plummeted and the show ended after six episodes with just 2.9 million viewers watching.

A source told the newspaper: “Amazing Greys was a great show. Everyone was proud of it. But it just didn’t capture the public’s imagination and the ratings were not enough to warrant a second series.”

ITV is about to launch Generation Game-style show Keep It In The Family, hosted by TV favourite Bradley Walsh.
