A new ITV4 documentary will explore the highs and lows of the final boxing match of Ricky Hatton‘s career last year.
Night of the Fight: Hatton’s Last Stand, which will screen this autumn and tie in with the release of Ricky’s autobiography, has exclusive access to the former light welterweight world champion, his team and his family as he underwent training in preparation for his comeback professional fight in Manchester against Ukranian Vyacheslav Senchenko.
It then follows The Hitman in the emotional aftermath of the dramatic bout as he dealt with losing the match and making the decision to retire from boxing for ever.
“My comeback was an incredible journey and this captures the emotion, blood, sweat and tears perfectly,” says Ricky. “I had demons to fight inside and outside the ring, to get my body back battle-hardened after so many years out, to shed masses of weight and do all this knowing that defeat could send me back to a place that nearly cost me my life. But that emotional night in Manchester made me realise more than winning a boxing match was at stake. This was my redemption.”
