X Factor favourite Jade Richards has revealed it is fifth time lucky for her in the contest.

Despite auditioning every year for the past five years, the tattooed 21-year-old had never made it past the initial researchers stage.

But on Saturday night, Jade finally got the chance to prove herself in front of the judges with her rendition of Adele’s Someone Like You.

Her performance moved judges Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh to tears.

Jade, from Fife, told The Daily Record: “This is the fifth time I’ve auditioned. I’ve never got anywhere on it before. I’ve never got to sing in front of the judges.

“The first time was when I was 16 and I’ve tried every year since. I’m glad I didn’t sing in front of the judges before because it gave me a chance to do gigs and get experience.”

She added: “I think when you’re 16, you’re not ready. I was able to mature and decide what kind of singer I want to be.”

Jade admitted that she was initially reluctant to sing Adele’s smash hit song.

She said: “I didn’t want to sing it because everyone at the auditions had been singing her songs.

“Now I’m really glad I did – everything has just gone nuts.”
