Jason Donovan has become the latest celebrity tipped to join the line-up of Strictly Come Dancing 2011, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that the former Neighbours star, 43, will be one of the star turns in this year’s series, which is also rumoured to include the likes of Sven Goran Eriksson’s ex, Nancy Dell ‘Olio, footballer Robbie Savage and astrologer Russell Grant.

And it means he will compete with Gary Barlow – who is a judge on this year’s X Factor – for Saturday night ratings. The pair were recently snapped on holiday together in St Tropez.

“Jason is a great signing for Strictly,” a source told the paper. “He still has a lot of fans from his days on Neighbours and his pop career, as well as new fans from his stage shows.”

“He is also really good friends with Gary, so it will be interesting to see how their rivalry plays out.”

Jason sprang to fame as Scott Robinson in Neighbours, appearing in the soap in the late 80s alongside Kylie Minogue.

He also had a successful pop career and starred in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in London’s West End.

More recently he appeared in the ITV1 show Echo Beach, and was a contestant in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2006.
