Entertainment legends John and Edward Grimes werevoted off The X Factor on Sunday night…
But first, on Saturday there was a nostalgia trip in store for many X Factor viewers as the six remaining finalists tackled the hits of George Michael and Wham!
First to perform was Lloyd, singing the George Michael 80s classic Faith
After a brush with the bottom two last week, Lloyd was delighted to receive praise from the panel
Stacey sparkled as she sang I Can’t Make You Love Me
Simon found her performance a bit “mechanical” – but acknowledged that she was unlikely to be eliminated
John and Edward did a medley of I’m Your Man and Wham! Rap – complete with 80s ‘tribute’ T-shirts
The performance prompted the usual stares of disbelief from the judges
Clearly the pair are now so famous that they have their own personal plinth!
Danyl sung Careless Whisper – one of the most famous George Michael songs of all – but Louis had doubts about his performance
Olly bumped and ground his way through a rendition of Fast Love – and it was one of the performances of the night!
Finally, Joe’s rendition of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me won a standing ovation from all four judges
The results show kicked off with the six remaining acts singing the Wham hit Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. All together now – jitterbug!
The show featured a special appearance from Susan Boyle, performing her debut single Wild Horses
Mariah Carey also appeared, performing her cover of the 80s classic I Want To Know What Love Is
In the end, it came down to Olly and John and Edward singing to stay in the competition
Olly looked shocked to be in the bottom two – but not as shocked as the judges
In the end however it was finally John and Edward’s turn to go, after they lost on the judges’ vote
Despite all the criticism levelled at them over the weeks, the twins still received a standing ovation from all four judges
