Jedward have said The X Factor would be ‘a flop’ without original judge Louis Walsh.

John and Edward Grimes, who shot to fame during the sixth series of the show, supported their mentor amid claims it may be time for him to leave his seat on the panel.

“Louis is the original, you can never get rid of the original. Without him the show just wouldn’t work. It would be a flop,” John said at the launch of the new Disney Universe video game.

“He knows what he’s talking about – he’s been on the show for years. The rest of the people on the panel are all newbies, but Louis is really great, he always gives his honest opinion and he’s the best mentor and he’s our manager so he’s really awesome.”

The pair also said X Factor could boost its viewing figures – which have recently tailed off – by enlisting more high profile acts to perform on the Sunday night results show.

Edward added: “I think they can improve the ratings by having some crazy artists on it, because right now some of the guest acts aren’t like crazy, crazy. They need to get Lady Gaga on the show and crazy people like me and John.”

The Irish twins – who came sixth in 2009 – also said they wanted eccentric Kitty Brucknell to win the ITV show.

“Kitty all the way because she’s cool, she’s crazy, she’s totally different from anybody else on the show. She’s in her own league as well,” John said.
