Call The Midwife and current Patrick Melrose star Jessica Raine is joining Tchéky Karyo and Tom Hollander in the new mystery-drama series.
Jessica Raine has joined the cast of The Missing spin-off series, Baptiste, which will see the return of Tcheky Karyo as French detective Julien Baptiste. She has been cast as a character called Genevieve. But in true mystery style, nothing else is known about the character at the moment.
The new BBC series sees the detective on holiday in Amsterdam with his wife Celia when he finds himself caught-up in a new case. The Chief of Police, who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, contacts Baptiste for help cracking the crime.
The series is being filmed on location in Antwerp, Ghent, Amsterdam and Deal in Kent. It’s not yet known if any other characters from The Missing will crossover for the spin-off.
Jessica Raine is to play the role of Genevieve, alongside Tom Hollander as Edward. Filming will take place in Antwerp, Ghent, Amsterdam and Deal in Kent.
When Julien and his wife are on a visit to Amsterdam, the Chief of Police – who also happens to be an old girlfriend – seeks out his help due to his renowned and methodical crime solving skills.
Series creators Harry and Jack Williams said, “We are so pleased to welcome Jessica Raine to our brilliant cast; her talent and commitment are perfect for Genevieve and we’re really excited to see what she does with the character.”
Baptiste is expected to start later this year on BBC 1
