Jessie J is the first of four superstar coaches to be confirmed for The Voice UK.

Jessie, who helped X Factor judge Tulisa choose her final four groups at the weekend, will join the talent search when it airs on BBC1 in the spring.

The show, in which contestants are judged solely on their vocal ability, has already enjoyed a successful run in the States, where it was judged by Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and country singer Blake Shelton.

Jessie, described as having a ‘powerhouse of a voice’, has racked up 18 global number one hits and sold more than two million albums and six million singles worldwide.

The Price Tag singer said: “I’m excited to be a coach, inspiration and mentor and I jumped at the opportunity as it’s all about ‘The Voice’.”

BBC One Controller Danny Cohen said: “Jessie J is going to be an amazing coach on The Voice UK. She’s a massive young star with a strong personality, and her recent MOBO nominations are testament to her musical and creative ability.”

Further coaches will be confirmed in coming months, although Lenny Kravitz and former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue are rumoured to be taking part.

Rapper Cee Lo had been due to take a place on the UK panel but has been forced to commit to the US show.
