ITV announce comedian John Bishop as new host for The Nightly Show expected to air at the end of February.
Popular Liverpool comedian, John Bishop, will be joining ITV’s brand new entertainment show The Nightly Show.
ITV confirmed today that John will join David Walliams and chef Gordon Ramsay who have already been signed up as hosts for the series that will run for eight weeks and feature a different big name host every week.
Speaking about his new role John, who will be in the hot seat the week after BGT judge, David Walliams, kicks off the series said, “The Nightly Show is a great concept and I like the idea of doing something completely different for a week. I also like the idea of the rotating hosts and following David Walliams means I can have all the beauty products he leaves in the dressing room!”
The series will be an upbeat and fast paced mix of entertainment, celebrity guests, fun videos and studio games and has already been compared to James Corden’s The Late Late Show which has achieved huge ratings success in the USA.
Other names in the frame for presenting roles include Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, Jack Whitehall and comedian Sarah Millican.
The show will be recorded “as live” every day and will be broadcast at 10pm in the slot traditionally occupied by ITV News At Ten.
Full details are being kept under wraps but the series is expected to begin its run straight after the eagerly-awaited third series of Broadchurch, starring Olivia Colman and David Tennant David, in order to capture a big audience.
Details of other hosts will be announced in due course.
