TV presenter Jonathan Ross is being lined up to host the 2011 Brit Awards, according to the News Of The World.

The paper reports that the 49-year-old has been keen to present the annual music ceremony for years but has been unable to do so due to his BBC commitments.

However he is now eyeing the opportunity after finishing his contract with the corporation, which saw him present his final TV chat show and his final Radio 2 show this weekend.

An insider told the paper that Jonathan’s own company was also keen to produce TV coverage of the event.

“Jonathan has wanted to host the Brits for years but all his commitments at the Beeb have never allowed him to,” the source said.

“As soon as he left he made it his priority to get the Brits. He’s really excited it’s going to happen. But he wants to do it properly, which is why he’s in talks to produce the whole thing as well.”

Jonathan – who will also take his chat show to ITV next year – bowed out of his BBC1 show on Friday with a star-studded line up which included Jackie Chan and David Beckham.
