Katy Perry has launched a stinging attack on reality shows which hire judges that she claims are out of touch with the current music scene.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, the chart-topping singer revealed that she had been approached to appear on the panel of a talent show, but did not say which it was.

“People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved and I think that it’s not right for me now,” she said.

“I have ideas for two or three big, creative things and I want to be able to fulfill those ideas. And it’s a real commitment to be on one of those shows.”

However Katy added, “I think some of those shows are better than others. I like to give constructive criticism that hopefully people can apply and find valuable.

“But I do find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven’t been for a decade or over. Or when they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven’t even lived it.”

Katy – whose documentary film Part Of Me has just opened in cinemas, appeared as a guest judge on The X Factor in 2010, and there was speculation that she would join permanently as a replacement for Kelly Rowland.

However that role has since been given to Nicole Scherzinger.
