Kerry Katona, who was rushed to hospital on Tuesday with suspected pre-eclampsia, is not as ill as initially feared, it has been confirmed.

I’m A Celebrity… winner Kerry, who is expecting her fourth child, was admitted after her midwife feared that she had the potentially fatal condition.

A spokeswoman said: “In fact, it was water retention and low iron levels, which brought on similar symptoms.”

Kerry is expected to be released from hospital shortly, according to reports on BBC Online.

“Mummy and baby are fine,” her spokeswoman added.

Kerry’s publicist Max Clifford earlier said that she had been in “increasing pain” and stressed that she had been taken into hospital by her husband Mark Croft as a “precautionary measure”.

The ex-Atomic Kitten singer recently ended a stay at a rehab clinic.

She has two daughters by her first husband, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, and already has a daughter with second husband Mark.

The pair have said they will name their unborn baby boy Maxwell after Max Clifford.
