Cult Eighties programme Knight Rider could be about to return to the small screen.
According to reports on E! Online, US network NBC is bringing back the action show which catapulted David Hasselhoff to stardom in the 1980s.
However, the network will apparently test the water with a two-hour TV movie/pilot, which will air later this season. If it’s a success, it seems the show will go into production for a 2008-2009 debut.
The original Knight Rider followed undercover cop Michael Knight (Hasselhoff) who was shot in the line of duty and left for dead.
After getting a new face and identity, he became the lead agent for a dying billionaire’s secret Foundation For Law And Government, where he was partnered with a chatty car, K.I.T.T.
The premise of the new show will remain faithful to the original.
No word yet on who will play the hero this time around, but it is said that the network is looking for new blood.
