The Voice UK newcomer Kylie Minogue has revealed she would have auditioned for the show if it had existed at the start of her career.
Speaking ahead of the show’s return to BBC One on Saturday night, the pint-sized singer also spoke of her excitement at being a part of the series, saying she was optimistic about finding a big star among the hopefuls.
I totally believe we can find a big star in this series,” Kylie told The Mirror. “Hopefully I can enlighten the talent to the trials and tribulations I’ve experienced myself in this industry.
“If I was just starting out as a singer now, I would definitely consider entering The Voice.”
She admitted she had resisted the lure of being a TV talent show judge, until will.i.am persuaded her to join the panel, telling her she would gain from the experience.
“I’d already passed on reality show roles before and doing this is a big investment of time and energy,” Kylie explained.
“However, Will assured me I would learn something about myself. That personal touch made me say, ‘Yes’.”
The singer added that sister Dannii – who has been a judge on The X Factor – had been ‘so supportive’ of her move to the show.
“Now I know why Dannii was always so tired,” she joked. “Because you live and breathe it.”
The Voice UK
– which also features new judge Ricky Wilson and Tom Jones returning to the panel – kicks off on BBC One on Saturday at 7pm.
