Leona Lewis ‘OK’ following fan attack (VIDEO)

X Factor winner Leona Lewis is said to be ‘shocked’ but ‘OK’ after being punched in the head at a book signing on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old singer had been signing copies of her new autobiography, Dreams, at Waterstone’s Piccadilly in London for around 90 minutes on Wednesday afternoon when the man suddenly lashed out.

Leona was left bruised, upset and shaken after the incident and was checked over by a doctor.

The singer’s spokesman, who witnessed the ‘unprovoked’ attack, said: “She was doing a signing to launch her new book when a guy came up and punched her to the side of the head.”

The man had apparently queued for five hours to meet Leona before launching his attack. He is believed to have shouted ‘I love you’ following the incident.

Speaking on Leona’s behalf, her spokesman said: “Leona would like us to convey her thanks to you all for your kind messages and your support.

“Leona’s understandably badly shaken and apologises to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings for.”

Police said officers were called to Waterstone’s and a man has been arrested “following reports of an assault against a female”.

Video footage featured on The Sun website shows security staff restraining the man and Leona being led away following the attack.
