Series five of Line of Duty will start shooting soon...
Series five of Line of Duty is just about to start filming – and creator Jed Mercurio has hinted that Adrian Dunbar’s character, Superintendent Ted Hastings, could be corrupt!
Hastings, Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) have been the three central characters in the BBC hit, bravely fighting police corruption together.
But Jed has thrown in the curveball that Hastings could be bent, telling The Observer: “It’s always useful to know that people are emotionally invested in a series because it means that you can take them down a certain road, and they should be interested.
“While it may be true that people don’t want Hastings to be bent, if we do lead him down the road of corruption, I think the audience will stick with us.”
No, not Hastings!!! While this could be a red herring from Jed, we do know that Line of Duty series five will start filming in a month’s time.
Meanwhile, before series five arrives fans of Jed’s writing will be pleased to know that he’s penned a new BBC1 thriller, Bodyguard.
It stars Keeley Hawes, who Line of Duty fans will remember as the infamous Lindsay Denton, as Home Secretary Julia Montague.
Bodyguard, which is being screened later this year, explores whether Julia’s bodyguard David (played by Richard Madden) could be a threat to her?
