Actress Lisa Faulkner has won Celebrity Masterchef 2010, after a closely fought battle against Dick Strawbridge and Christine Hamilton in the final.

The 38-year-old Holby City star took the title in the final episode which saw all three contestants serve up a meal for chefs Greg Wallace and John Torode.

And her menu of goat’s cheese and red onion tartlet, monkfish and almond pannacotta found favour with the pair, with John praising her “natural touch and fantastic palate”

Afterwards Lisa said she had wanted to impress the celebrity chefs. “I just wanted to prove to John and Greg that they had chosen the right person,” she revealed.

“You know when something is going wrong because you see the camera come looming towards you and Greg bellowing at you but they are ultimately really kind and I am just in awe of both of them.

“Winning has turned me life around,” she said. “I love it, I love cooking and since the show I just haven’t stopped.”

John Torode added that Lisa had no idea how good a cook she really was.

“The idea that someone comes into Masterchef, starts at a certain level and continues to grow and gets better is fantastic,” he said. “She continued to improve and is completely in love with food.”

“Lisa elevates humble food into something beautiful,” added Gregg Wallace. “She’s a brilliant champion and possibly the best Celebrity Masterchef winner we’ve ever had.”
