Comic actress Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa Simpson, accepted the National Movie Award on behalf of The Simpsons Movie at the awards in London on Friday night.

The Simpsons Movie won Best Animated Film at the awards, which were entirely decided by public vote.

The helium-voiced comic, 43, has played pre-teen Lisa since 1989 and told whatsontv.co.uk that the team behind the legendary animated sitcom couldn’t quite believe the show was still as popular as ever.
